A choir director who doesn't write code built his own sign-up app with Claude
Jason turned a shared spreadsheet and a pile of emails into an app his choir uses on their phones, and he still runs everything from his spreadsheet.
Before
Jason runs the music for a church, with two adult choirs, a brass group, Sunday services and Thursday rehearsals. His choir members had to tell him which weeks they'd sing, and all of that lived in a shared spreadsheet on his OneDrive. He typed in every name and every date, sent the link around, and answered the emails that came back.
What he built
So he asked Claude whether he could automate it. Now his choir members log in on their phones, check the boxes for the dates they're singing, and click over to a tab with the music list. The music list pulls straight from Jason's spreadsheet, so when he adds a new piece or a new singer he just updates the spreadsheet. He never has to touch a website.
What's next
His next build is the weekly music plan. It's something he does every week, and he's done explaining it from scratch every time. The plan is to set it up in Claude so he gives it the date and the scripture references and it handles the rest.
