A chatbot answers a question. An agent does a job. You give it a goal, and it works through the steps, reads the files it needs, uses the tools it's allowed to use and comes back with the finished piece.

What's an example of an AI agent?

At my masterclass on Nov 3, I ran my Content Distiller on 17 meeting transcripts. The job was too big for one pass, so Claude started five sub-agents, split the reading between them and came back with 93 content ideas. That's an agent at work: one goal, several steps and a finished result.

What's the difference between an AI agent and an AI employee?

I don't think there is one. I like the word employee because owners already know how to hire, train and manage one, but pick whatever word you want. Agents, employees, same thing. It's all a task. The full argument is in AI agent vs AI employee vs AI assistant.

What's the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?

A chatbot waits for your next message. An agent keeps going until the task is done, and it can use connectors to read your email or update your CRM along the way. I still keep a human in the loop on anything that goes out to a customer.
